Body Lift

A body lift improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue that supports fat and skin. Excess sagging fat and skin are removed to treat conditions caused in part by poor tissue elasticity. In addition, the procedure(s) can improve a dimpled, irregular skin surface, commonly known as cellulite.

A Body Lift may include these areas:

  • Abdominal area, locally or extending around the sides and into the lower back area
  • Buttocks, that may be low, flat or shaped unevenly
  • Groin that may sag into the inner thigh
  • Thigh, including the inner, outer, or posterior thigh, or circumferentially

What it won’t do

Body Lift Los Angeles is not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where skin has good elasticity and is able to naturally conform to new body contours. In cases where skin elasticity is poor, a combination of liposuction and body lift techniques may be recommended.

What do I have to do to prepare for Body Lift surgery?

You will be examined by a physician and undergo blood work testing to ensure that you are medically fit for surgery. You should stop taking aspirin, or any anti-flammatory drugs and stop smoking well in advance of the surgery.

You will be given a prescription to antibiotics and painkillers, which you should fill before your surgery so that you have them easily available on day of surgery and your driver and/or caregiver is not running around to drugstores on the day of your surgery.

What happens on the day of Body Lift surgery?

A friend or family member must bring you to the Beverly Hills Institute of Plastic Surgery. Our Patient Care Coordinator will greet you and bring in into the an examining room, where your Plastic Surgeon will mark outlines on the parts of your body that will indicate where the treatment will be administered.

Photos will be taken of the surgical areas, so that you will be able to compare the results to another set of photos that will be taken after you have fully recovered from the surgery.

Since the first 24 to 48 hours after surgery are critical for optimal recovery, The Beverly Hills Institute of Plastic Surgery suggests that patients consider recovering at Serenity Aftercare. Serenity is located in Santa Monica and is staffed by medical professionals that are specially trained in caring for patients immediately recovering from plastic surgery. If you do not elect to recover at Serenity, a friend or family member must come to the Beverly Hills Institute of Plastic Surgery to pick you up after your surgery and bring you safely home. Someone must remain home with you for the first 48 to 72 hours, to assist you as you recover from your surgery. If you elect to recover at Serenity, you will be chauffeured directly to Serenity immediately following your surgery.

Your surgeon will call you once you are safely home, to see how you are doing and to make sure you are recovering normally.

What is the Body Lift
recovery process?

After your body lift procedure is completed, dressings or bandages will be applied to the incisions. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.

You will be given specific
instructions that may include:

How to care for your surgical site(s) following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow up with your plastic surgeon.
