Breast Correction

Breast Correction is the surgical placement of breast implants to increase fullness and projection of the breasts or to improve symmetry of the breasts. Clinically referred to as augmentation mammaplasty, a breast reduction procedure is used cosmetically to:

  • Enlarge a naturally small breast, most commonly the result of heredity
  • Restore breast volume lost following pregnancy, as a result of breast feeding or due to weight loss
  • Achieve better symmetry when breasts are moderately disproportionate in size and shape
  • Enhance your self-image and self-confidence

Breast implants also may be used for breast reconstruction after mastectomy or injury.

What Breast Correction Surgery Won’t Do:

Breast Correction Los Angeles does not correct severely drooping breasts. If you want your breasts to look fuller and to be lifted due to sagging, a breast lift may be required in conjunction with breast augmentation.

Breast lifting can often be done at the same time as your reconstruction or may require a separate operation. Your plastic surgeon will assist you in making this decision.

Who Can Have Breast Correction?

Anyone who is troubled by a deposit of fat that they are unable to rid themselves of is a Breast Correction candidate. All plastic surgery patients must be deemed medically fit for surgery by the plastic surgeon who will be performing your procedure.

Breast Correction is not a treatment for obesity and cannot remove cellulite, dimples on the skin, or stretch marks. The procedure is used to treat problem fat deposits and enhance the contour and shape of the body.

The best Breast Correction candidates are patients who have good skin elasticity, causing the skin tighten smoothly to the new contour of the body.

What Kind of Anesthetic is Used During Breast Correction?

Breast Correction is normally performed under general anesthetic, although some patients elect to have the procedure done under local anesthetic.

How Long Does Breast Correction Take?

Breast Correction can take from one to four hours to complete.

You will be given a prescription to antibiotics and painkillers, which you should fill before your surgery so that you have them easily available on day of surgery and your driver and/or caregiver is not running around to drugstores on the day of your surgery.

Following the surgery, you will be placed in a support/pressure garment that will help to reduce inflammation and bruising.
